I made another trip to the thrift shop again I found a little wicker turkey for us to put our thanksgiving "what we are thankful for" notes in on our nature table. The little wicker gobbler cost only 39 cents but then he was half off making him only 20 cents and a real deal! I also got this little acorn shaped wooded box for only 49 cents and it was half off making him a quarter, another great deal. The box looks like something little-man could use for an open close activity tray. We haven't done one of those in a while for little-man. I love my thrift shop bargain hunting but no more baskets for me. I am out of places to store my Montessori tray collection of things.

thrift store trip
I spent $21.00 at Goodwill but found some real treasures new maternity jeans, maternity shorts and 2 maternity tops for Aimee all brand new, Now to send out a box. A wooden sheep wrapped in fuzzy wool for 25 cents. Several books, including a hardcover Aesops Fables Illustrated by Brad Sneed, A Child's Goodnight Prayer by Grace Maccarone, Great Grandfather's House by Rumer Godden in hardcover, Stone Soup by Ann McGovern (I think we already have a copy of this but it will make a great book to drop.) Animals,Animals by Eric Carle. I have really learned to like this artist/aurthor and can't resist buying copies of his books. These books will fit what we are doing and no library fines! The little sheep has made it to our nature table along with the new books into the book basket.

Dollar store finds
Today I spent $9.01 at Dollar Daze
I got this neat skeleton window cling I put on the fridge for bone identification ($1.00), hemp necklace kit i bought for the cowrie shells (1.00), leaf and pumkin cut outs 10 per package (0.75 each so $1.50 total),a 3-ring binder (2.50) and a little golden book "Animal Homes" (1.00). not bad I think for staying close to my budget today.

Dollar General Store Finds
pots for starting seeds 3.00
seeds 0.20 each 0.20
color by number set 1.00 each 2.00
plastic alphabet and number sets 2.00
alphabet stickers 1.00 each 5.00
Total spent 12.20 plus tax
Not too bad for making three new activities. The color by number sets were flowers and bees which will go with the flower and plants theme I am working on for our next unit study. The alphabet stickers go with some paint chips I picked up for free to make reading slide cards. and the plastic alphabets didn't come with magnets like I thought but we got out some magnets and two metal popcorn tin lids and are using them to study magnetics anyway today. Pitty-pat has a pin, coins, magnets from the fridge and is amazed at how the magnets make the pin stand up on the coins in from high above the safety pin. Tippy-toe is more into hanging the magnets from each other in the air. I printed out magnetic and not magnetic cards from somewhere(I will look up the link and plan to get them out of my file cabinet to put with this for the next time they get the magnets out of the activity file box.)
Little-man is happy with a set of tongs and a couple of jar lids to move around on his highchair tray.(also a free activity)I think he would try to swallow the magnets. Today he starts potty training after his nap! We bought a new potty chair, training pants and rubber pants--ready, set, go!
